Emergency Management & Disaster Preparedness
Our communities feel the devastation caused by natural hazards long after the response – disasters including fires, floods and storms. Each ISJO Council’s business continuity plans and recovery strategies have been tested and matured as a result. However, with the regions geography characterised by extensive areas of parks and reserves, major water systems and open coastline; population growth that is aging; tourism demands; fragmented transport systems and isolated communities, there remain opportunities to build resilience in our systems and infrastructure reducing the scale and impact that these natural hazards have. The ISJO is committed to working alongside communities, agencies, combat and response personnel and all level of Government to support communities in building capacity and resilience to disasters.
