Three Joint Organisations  – Hunter Joint Organisation, Central NSW Joint Organisation and the Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation – have formed a Shared Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee in compliance with sections 428A and 428B of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) and in accordance with the Local Government (General) Amendment (Audit, Risk and Improvement Committees) Regulation 2023. 

The Shared Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee commenced operation in June 2026 and is carrying out its responsibilities within agreed Terms of Reference and a Memorandum of Understanding.
