Resource Recovery
The ISJO is responsible for the development and coordination of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Regional Waste Strategy.
The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), under the Waste Less Recycle More initiative, funded the development of a Regional Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy. ISJO commissioned Jacobs to prepare the Regional Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy on behalf of participating Councils (Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee).
A number of operational programs across these Councils support delivery of the Strategy. These include the Regional Illegal Dumping Program, the Regional Waste Education Program and the Regional Litter Reduction program.
