Weeds / Biosecurity Management Plans and Resources

The Pesticide Notification Plan informs the public about the IDWA use of Pesticides in public places. Giving people notice about pesticide use lets them reduce their contact with pesticides, if they wish. Pesticides include herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, fumigants, bactericides, rodenticides, baits, lures, repellents and pesticides used on animals to control external parasites.

The Southeast Regional Strategic Weed Management Plan (RSWMP) 2023-2027 outlines strategic actions to guide collaborative weed management, resource allocation and investment in the South East region, providing a consistent basis for planning and delivery. The RSWMP plays an important role in articulating the shared responsibility principle of the Biosecurity Act 2015 to all stakeholders and the wider community.

The South East Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan was developed through consultation with key stakeholders and covers 13 established pest species/ such as deer/ pigs and rabbits/ whilst highlighting ‘alert
species’/ which are pests that have not been established in the South East region yet pose a significant risk to
our community and industries.

Other species, such as feral birds and fish, which have been identified as pests,
are also captured.

The plan outlines how government, industry and the community can work together and share the responsibility to prevent, eradicate, contain, or manage pest animals to achieve a balance in economic, environmental, and social outcomes.
