Community Recycling Centres
Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) are permanent drop-off facilities for common household problem wastes that can’t be collected through Council kerbside waste and recycling bins.
NSW householders can drop off problem waste at these centres year round – it will be recycled and it’s FREE!
Household quantities (generally 20 litres or 20 kilograms of each waste type) will be accepted for recycling free of charge.
Community Recycling Centres are available across the Illawarra Shoalhaven region to safely dispose of items including:
- Paint
- Gas bottles
- Fire extinguishers
- Household batteries
- Motor oils
- Car batteries
- Smoke detectors
- Fluoro globes and tubes
Please make sure you handle and transport these items safely and place items in a box or tray in your vehicle to restrict movement and capture and potential leaks.
By utilising CRCs residents are helping to maximise resource recovery and divert valuable materials from landfill. Keeping problem wastes out of kerbside bins also helps keep the community safe. Batteries, e-waste products containing batteries, gas bottles and other problem wastes cause fires, putting waste and recycling workers and the community at risk.
