Local Priority Weeds
In addition to the State and Regional priorities, the Biosecurity Act allows for the flexibility to respond to the protection of local assets such as those detailed in the Illawarra Biodiversity Strategy and contained within our valuable production landscapes.
As such, any weed determined to be a local priority weed with the IDWA area of operation or parts thereof will be verified using the same risk assessment system as the broader jurisdictions but performed at a local scale. Local priority weeds will be assessed in terms of risk, context and situation before being part of a local weed control program.
